The time is now. The place is a coffee bar in New York City. Jenny, a strong-minded young woman, is waiting for her boyfriend, Daniel, who is late, when Edward shows up. Although a little nerdy, he is attractive and has good hair - better than Daniel's, as he is to soon find out. Even though he thinks she is "a little scary," Edward and Jenny are attracted to one another, and find they have common views, such as a hatred for guardian angels and Michael Bolton. Even though they are both waiting for their dates to arrive, Edward points out that "everyone is always checking out potential mates all the time," to which Jenny replies, "If we were dogs, we would touch noses, sniff each other's butt, and then mate." When Daniel finally shows up, trouble is brewing, and he and Edward are on the edge of fisticuffs when Edward's date, Mary, also appears, complicating things further. This satirical look at love and romance explores the notions of sexuality, attraction and disillusion at the turn of the millennium. Available in one act and full length versions.
