The year is 1901, ten years since the struggle between Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty atop Reichenbach Falls sent Moriarty plunging to his death - or so we think. But when a shipment of poison gas arrives in London Holmes realizes that his old rival is not dead; it seems that he survived Reichenbach after all, and blames Holmes for the fall which has left him crippled. To make things worse, Holmes believes Moriarty is behind the disappearance of Irene Adler - the only woman Holmes has ever loved - as well as a series of recent anarchist bombings. When Inspector Lestrade receives an anonymous bomb warning threatening to cause an international incident, Holmes has twenty-four hours to find and defeat Moriarty, as well as save the woman he loves.
