About the Writer My name is Chris Martin (like the singer!!) and I'm Head of Drama at a Thornleigh Salesian College in Bolton. I graduated from Manchester University in 1989, completed my PGCE at Aberystwyth the following year and have been teaching ever since. My interest in murder mystery plays developed over a number of years. In the 1990's I was part of a group of actors who performed murder mystery events in hotels in West Yorkshire. My company Murderplays came into existence more recently in 2004. In response to my school's PTA I wrote 'Who Killed the Headmaster?' a play which was acted out by the staff of the school as a fundraiser (and even our Head seemed to enjoy!) It was so successful and profitable that the 'School Murder Mystery Play' became a regular feature of our calendar. As the plays proved so successful I set up Murderplays to make them available to other schools, drama groups and fundraising organisations. Since 2004 there have been over 700 performances of my plays in 8 countries. Groups have raised hundreds, even thousands, of pounds for their organisations and given audiences a real treat in the process.
