Friday morning in a drama school rehearsal studio. Thirteen students gather. It is the last day of a five-day project to devise a short play via improvisation. There is discontent concerning the behaviour of an absentee - Aida - whose arrogance has resulted in a vendetta against her, among her peers. Even her popular identical twin sister, Naomi sides with Aida's critics. Aida's arrogance arises after her precocious West End success & subsequent offer of an audition for a forthcoming film. This audition is to take place 'this very morning', & is much resented by some of the students. A plot is mooted by Naomi to rid them of this troublesome colleague & she recruits two of her chums to carry out her plan. The plot goes too far and the conspirators have to face up to their responsibility. Naomi's remorse is the climax, & up until that, the audience hopefully, may forget that this has all been a devised
improvisation. That's an objective of the performance: But as an exercise, there are more important objectives in this piece, intended to stretch stage-sincerity of intermediate drama students, in:- 1) Realistic conversation, 2) Formal-style monologue, 3) Unbridled emotion & 4) Subtle Relationships. Give it your best & enjoy.
