In September of 1849, en route to wed his "newest"
beloved, the chronically destitute and alcoholic writer/poet Edgar Allan Poe mysteriously disappeared. Five days later, America's Poet Macabre materialized in a Baltimore saloon deranged, delusional and wearing another man's clothing. He died at Washington College Hospital a few days later. What happened to Poe during those missing five days and the cause of his death has been one of literature's great
mysteries and the subject of this highly theatrical play.
