Set at the height of the Vietnamese War, a four-flushing American tourist innocently engages a Parisian streetwalker in a conversation about a local survey his reporter wife is conducting for a major American periodical, a professional undertaking that due to a series of language gaffes is misinterpreted, leading ultimately to the husband's marriage breakup and his equally innocent wife walking off with the Parisian prostitute.
