Torn between uncontrollable desire for the man driving the bus and the normalcy of wife and family, Stanley hangs to the edge of personal crisis while riding the cross-town bus. Driving, was the man who made Stanley’s knees go weak in the ShopRite some weeks past as he purchased his family’s groceries. Now as the bus starts and stops, jerking its way through Manhattan traffic a three way conversation ensues between Stanley and the driver, Stanley and his wife, and Stanley and himself. Is the driver gay or straight, is Stanley? How do Margaret and the kids fit in? What is right? What is real? How can Stanley find out? A dilemma, that ends with a kiss and a fist. Stanley: A man settled and old enough to have 2.5 children
Razynski: A male bus driver Margaret Stanley's wife/alter ego: She is ephemeral and divides her time between home in New Jersey and the inside of Stanley's head. She remains on stage reacting to, or acting with Stanley the entire play.
