Moirean, the proud descendant of Scottish landowners in Ireland, abuses her daughter Regan constantly. The teenage girl believes her mother killed the father and finds refuge in the drive to learn the truth. An old friend from high school, Judy Gardner, comes to visit. But the visit proves quite disastrous, as Moirean wants to keep Regan from seeing anyone, claiming the girl will introduce her to the wrong man. But she does not realize that Judy is in love with Regan from their high school days. Judy also knew Rodd Hamilton, Regan's neighbor,as well as other boys, and suffered at the hands of some of them before turning to her own gender for affection.
