A 10 minute play about a woman who shows up at the home of a Jewish man to return a piece of jewelry that was confiscated by her grandfather, a concentration camp guard, who took it from an inmate to save his daughter (the Jewish man's mother) from the gas chamber at Auschwitz. Her father, unfortunately, perished in the gas chamber. Shalom was originally performed as a short film and won 3rd place in the Tampa Jewish Short Film festival in 2010. It is a 4 character play that takes place in 1 simple set, a living room. The play has 3 women and 1 man
Shalom is a piece about forgiveness and the theme is that people with different beliefs do not have to be enemies.
I've uploaded a piece of music that was originally written for the short film. It was used along with shots of actual concentration camp photographs that were used prior to the final line being said by Walter.
