51 Steps is a thought provoking tale about a father who visits his son who is on death row. It is an hour before the son is about to be executed and the father wants to know why things had to happen this way. As the father speaks to his son (a young man with no remorse in his heart even though he accidentally killed a toddler during a drive by shooting) the father is only able to see his son as the innocent little 7 year old boy who he used to tuck in at night. 51 Steps is the number of steps it is from the holding cell to the electric chair where the man will be executed for murder. 51 Steps is a tragic piece about the American legal system and the people who fall between the cracks of it. No parent can ever imagine that one day their child might be executed by the state, however, every killer ever executed did have parents.
