Mysterious lights appear over the sleepy town of Amersham. At first the sightings are thought to be the Aurora Borealis, but it soon becomes apparent that Amersham is the first stage of an alien invasion. Once the truth is known panic ensues, with people trying to escape the devastation in Amersham. However, it soon becomes obvious that nowhere is safe. The destruction of the human race seems inevitable, until it is discovered that the giant slug like creatures have one small weakness. Just like garden snails they can be destroyed by salt. This radio play is the writer's small homage to H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds.
