Their last meeting fifteen years ago had been very acrimonious. Vivian Ross had badly wanted the job in the English Department at the College. Professor Ed Davis argued against giving it to her, believing another candidate to be much better qualified. Now they meet in the waiting room of a nursing home. They are both there for the same purpose: to start the process for an elderly parent to be admitted into the Home. As they wait they begin to converse. Within fifteen minutes each has persuaded the other to drop the plan to move the parent to the nursing home.
