The sleepy, provincial - some might even say dull - town of Little Ardwick is suddenly thrown into turmoil by the arrival of the legendary Fenland Tiger. Panic ensues, as well as a great deal of political manoeuvring as Tori, candidate for the Better Party, and Gregory, of the Honest Party, strive to use the tiger's publicity value as a tool to get elected. But James, the tiger in question, doesn't want to be exterminated. In fact, he wants to make friends, and it wasn't really his fault he caused a death trying to have some fun. Will Tori's hero husband, Roger, make it back from the war to kill the tiger? Will the inhabitants of Little Ardwick come to value James for who he really is? Or will they just end up as cat food? There's only one way to find out.
