Louise, Jed's new girlfriend from work is coming to dinner. When Dylan, Jed's loser of a flat mate ,returns with a stunned chicken, hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing, Jed's forced to go to the supermarket to buy the chicken Dylan forgot to buy. Louise arrives at Jed's distraught, three hours early. She knocked over the chicken and can't get it out of her head that it might be dead. Dylan panics. But he always panics. He's spent his life panicking. He rings Jed and tells him not to buy a chicken. Jed doesn't get the message and the chicken stops breathing. The play tells the story of Dylan's awakening and personal acceptance in the real world, and the realisation that he doesn't have to be anyone but himself.
