(Crocodile Cry at Midnight is a unique farce that allows you the director/ producer to set this play to reflect people and places near your town, similar to the play Shear Madness.).
Crocodiles Cry at Midnight revolves around the retired movie star, Anita Baker, who operates a Bed and Breakfast hotel from her Thirteenth Century Irish castle that sits on an island just outside *your city. (Items marked by *may be changed to reflect people and places in your community. No additional permission or royalty is required to change items marked by an asterisk * in this play.)
Each evening, Ma Barker and her friends drink and play games with Milton Bradley, the inventor of the game, Gooses and Mooses, but tonight is different. Just as Milton’s girlfriend, Suzi O’Brien, pops a Champaign cork and Milton catches it in his teeth, he falls down dead: the cork has been poisoned. Whodunit? Was it Anita Baker, the former Miss America and Olympic Gold Medal weight lifter? Her daughter, Dr. Nancy Baker, the mayor’s personal proctologist? Mrs. Baker’s grandson, the twenty year old Olympic silver medal wrestler? Or was it Suzi, the disgruntled tour guide who was just released from the *name of your most outlandish politician or local leader Mental Institution? Luckily, Bobby Sinclair, the county sheriff, who also performs as Bob the Wizard at children’s parties, arrives in the nick of time to solve the mystery . . . but his work is thwarted by the arrival of Michael Holdit . . . a man with a history. Crocodiles Cry at Midnight is a farce similar to Noises off with split-second timing and a boatload of props. Crocodiles Cry at Midnight is also generically set—like Shear Madness—giving you and your company a chance to bring your own personality to it.
