A man -- bitter, drunk, and armed to the teeth -- arrives at his estranged mother's funeral. He tells the terrified mourners that he has come to honor a long-ago promise he made to his mother: to come to her funeral and tell the plain truth about the person she was and the life she lived. He has also come to fulfill one other promise, as the mourners eventually discover to their horror.
